The Time for Talk … Is Now?

Trump has spent the week back pedalling for his failure to step up as the leader he was elected to be and take a decisive stance against racism and hatred during the horrific events in Charlottesville. There is no amount of rhetoric to erase his failure. Those who voted for him, who believed in him, are dealing with the horrible reality that they were wrong. That Trump is wrong.

The corporate elite have stepped back, but many in the highest echelons have held back from speaking the truth. I have heard the statement several times that unless the leadership of the nation takes “the higher moral ground”, what is being described “a populist revolt” will continue. This speaks to the chokehold Trump uses as a “leader”. As the narcissist he is, he understands the subtleties of coercion better than empathy.

What is of note – America’s military leaders made sure to express their stance against racism and intolerance online and when asked. There is hope to be found here, and role models.

The time for talk is past. The time for change is now.

The Silence Was Deafening

The man who cannot leave Twitter alone could not manage to denounce hatred in 140 characters. Nor could he stand before a podium, as the President he was elected to be, and address his nation on the events that unfolded in Virginia. He took no ownership at the time when a leader needed to step up and stand for something.

The past century has shown us what this kind of hatred leads to. Brave souls gave their lives to fight this evil. And the words “never again” have been carried forward by the generations who followed. Did he forget?

There is no place for those who choose to promote their ideology of hatred through violence. Freedoms hard won do not include them. The rights of those they denounce are not meant to shield and protect them as well. White supremacists by any name are purveyors of evil and all they stand for is wrong – they must be given no consideration whatsoever, and stopped in their tracks so they gain no ground.

I’m sorry, Mr. President, but the time for talk is done. You missed the boat. You missed the point. And there is no amount of back-pedalling and mouth piecing you can do now to make it right. You had one job.  Mic drop.

“You can’t just riff about nukes”

I love the headkine. So I had to share. And spent yesterday with CNN on continuous rotation for all the juicy goodness as The Donald shated more inflamatory rhetorical pearls of wisdom.

I have held back for all these months on what I think regarding the current butt in seat at the Oval office. And no, I would never showbsuch flippant disregard for the position unless it was warranted. Believe me, it’s warranted. But I will hold back no more.

Donald J. Trump is the single largest threat to national security ever. Short of an extinction level event.

Would someone, anyone, please take away his Twitter account? Stat! And do not put him before cameras and microphones without a killswitch. Why is he allowed to still speak his mind? Swatting at a hive of angry wasps with a stick can only end badly.

It’s funny but truly it is  not funny. Kim Jong is unpredictable, to put it simply. We know he is a self-serving narcissist who has starved his country to death in pursuit of his own whims. Nothing is beneath him. His country takes on the dirty work others won’t to pay the bills and no, I won’t elaborate.  His cybercrime hired guns are  The Lazarus Group, whose accomplishments include bringing Sony to their knees back in 2014. And who replenished dwindling cash reserves via the Bangladesh bank heist. Yeah, I called that one then and I’m sticking to it.

I am afraid of the punitive narcissist currently at the healm of the most powerful nation on Earth. So with these words I now join the ranks of those who will be out on watch lists because we spoke the truth. But unlike what The CIC spews forth, this needs to be said.

A War of Words

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words …

Sorry, but in cyberspace the rhetoric we fling lives on, and has far reaching consequences. Watching global tensions escalate with the war of words between Trump and Kim J., I am reminded of two boys with toys squabbling. Would that it were so. These toys are nuclear and need to be removed. Ideally, the children need to be removed from their toys, as far as possible. I watched the generals on CNN try to express their concern without saying what they really thought. Trump’s handlers aren’t handling him and given the volatility of the current situation, words are weapons. I’ll leave it at that.
